The DiversitAb Platform is diverse in its potential applications. Therapeutic treatments can be produced for a variety of conditions including cancers, infectious diseases such as influenza, Ebola, and MERS- CoV as well as autoimmune disorders and inflammation. The therapeutics can also be complementary to other treatments and vaccines.
This unique platform is the only one that can address the evolution of disease. Viruses, bacteria and even cancer cells rapidly evolve and mutate to evade therapy making it difficult to develop a targeted therapy that attacks current and future forms of the disease. As the disease changes, new medicines are needed, which can take years to develop.
Plasma collected from the human antibody producing cow contains polyclonal antibodies, or multiple antibodies that attack different forms of the virus. This is the natural immune response, the tactic used by the human body to respond to disease. As the disease evolves, the polyclonal antibodies are able to continue to recognize and fight the disease in its new form.
The human antibody producing cows can be exposed to the evolved disease and produce a new range of antibodies against the new form of the disease. The Platform could be developed for the most commonly used types of antibody therapy for a large range of diseases (polyclonal from serum and monoclonal from lymph tissue).
